Fill a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Add the gin, maraschino liqueur, lemon juice and crème de violette (if desired). Shake vigorously for 20-30 seconds until very cold.
Strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorn strainer or julep strainer.
Garnish with a small edible flower such as an orange blossom, pansy or violets (optional). Serve immediately and enjoy!
