The cherry sazerac is a classic cocktail made with rye whiskey, herbal liqueur, bitters, and sugar.
Course: Drinks
Ingredients
-2 ounces rye whiskey
-1/4 ounce simple syrup
-3 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters
-2 dashes Angostura bitters
-1 teaspoon absintheor Herbsaint
- Cherry for garnish
Instructions
Begin by filling an Old Fashioned glass with ice cubes and let chill while you prepare the drink.
In a separate mixing glass, combine the rye whiskey, simple syrup and both types of bitters. Stir until combined.
Add a few cubes of ice to the chilled Old Fashioned glass then pour in the absinthe (or Herbsaint). Swirl it around to coat all sides before discarding excess liquid from the glass.
Add more ice cubes and strain in your prepared cocktail mixture into your prepared glassware, then garnish with a cherry on top! Enjoy!
