What Are the Risks of Mixing Energy Drinks and Alcohol?

Mixing energy drinks with alcohol has become increasingly popular among young adults in recent years. It’s seen as a way to get an even bigger buzz than either one could provide on their own. However, it can be much more dangerous than people realize.

Most energy drinks contain high levels of caffeine and other stimulants, which can mask the effects of intoxication while still increasing blood alcohol concentration (BAC). This means that those drinking them may not feel as drunk as they actually are – leading to greater risks for engaging in risky behaviors like driving under the influence or having unsafe sex.

The Effects Of The Combination On Your Body

Drinking too many caffeinated beverages alongside alcohol can result in dehydration, nausea, elevated heart rate and increased risk for developing serious mental health issues. Caffeine also reduces activity in brain cells associated with controlling impulsivity, making it harder to make healthy decisions when intoxicated.

In addition to this physical risk, mixing energy drinks and alcohol could lead to psychological issues such as addiction problems or depression due to feeling out of control while drinking heavily.

How To Avoid The Negative Effects

When you’re drinking both alcohol and energy drinks at the same time it is important that you take steps towards avoiding any potential harm that could come from doing so. Make sure you stay hydrated throughout your night by alternating between alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic ones; limit yourself to no more than two caffeinated beverages per hour; pace yourself appropriately by having just one drink every half hour; eat before or during your drinking session; use public transportation if necessary instead of attempting to drive after consuming these substances together.< br >< br >Finally, keep track of how much each person is consuming so everyone remains safe! If someone shows signs of being overly intoxicated then intervene immediately by offering them water or food until they have regained some degree of sobriety.
