Mojito
A mojito is a classic Cuban highball made with five simple ingredients: white rum, sugar, lime juice, soda water and mint. It’s the perfect summer refresher that can be enjoyed in any season. To make one, muddle the mint leaves with some sugar and lime juice to release their flavor and sweetness. Add the rum of your choice, top up with ice cubes and sparkling water then garnish with a sprig of mint.
This easy-to-make drink has been around since at least 1586 when it was mentioned in Spanish literature as “El Draque”, named after Sir Francis Drake who brought this refreshing concoction back from his travels to Cuba! Mojitos are now hugely popular all over the world due to its unique combination of flavors which result in an incredibly refreshing cocktail that is sure to please even the pickiest of drinkers.
Daiquiri
The daiquiri is another classic Caribbean cocktail made from white rum, freshly squeezed lime juice and sugar syrup or simple syrup depending on your preference for sweetness. This timeless tipple was invented by Jennings Stockton Cox at a mining camp called Daiquirí near Santiago de Cuba in 1895 – legend has it he used what he had available at hand – limes from nearby plantations were combined with local Bacardi Rum to create this iconic beverage.
Since then it has become one of the most popular cocktails around; served frozen (Strawberry Daiquiri anyone?) or straight up (the Hemingway special) there’s something for everyone here! The key thing is balance – if you add too much sweetener you risk making it cloyingly sweet so experiment until you find that perfect mix for your taste buds!
Tiki Cocktails
Tiki drinks were invented during Prohibition times as a way for people to enjoy tropical flavors without having access to real fruit juices or alcohol due to legal restrictions against drinking alcohol.
)These days they’ve evolved into modern takes on traditional recipes featuring bold flavors like dark rums blended together with citrus fruits such as oranges & grapefruits along side syrups like Falernum & Orgeat which help bring out those delicious tropical flavors we all know & love! Whether its Mai Tais or Zombies these flavorful drinks will transport your tastebuds right into paradise!
