History Of The Cocktail

The classic recipe was developed by New Orleans-based bartender Colin Peter Field in 1874. It consists of tequila, absinthe and Angostura bitters garnished with a lemon twist. The original recipe also included curaçao liqueur but this has been replaced with tequila in modern recipes due to its superior flavor profile. Despite being invented over 140 years ago, the Tequila Sazerac remains one of the most popular cocktails today.

How To Make A Tequila Sazerac

Making a Tequila Sazerac is easy once you have all the ingredients at hand. Start by filling your glass with ice cubes and set aside while adding two ounces each of tequila and Absolut Citron Vodka into your shaker filled with ice cubes. Then add five drops each of Angostura Bitters and Peychaud’s Bitters as well as half an ounce of simple syrup before shaking vigorously for about 30 seconds until chilled throughly.

Garnish Your Drink With A Lemon Twist

Once chilled thoroughly strain your mixture into pre-filled rocks glass containing fresh ice cubes(or alternatively use whiskey stones). Finally garnish it with freshly squeezed lemon juice (optional)and top it up with some sparkling water(optional) before serving cold. To get maximum enjoyment out if this exquisite drink make sure to take small sips while savoring every bit!

  • Fill both glasses with crushed ice and empty one into the other (the one without absinthe).
  • Pour in two ounces of tequila, swirl gently, and strain into prepared glass over fresh ice cubes if desired; discard remaining ice from first glass without any drink poured out from it).
  • Garnish with lemon peel and serve immediately

Glassware

The typical glassware used for a Tequila Sazerac is an Old Fashioned (rocks) glass. This type of glass has a wide, round base and narrows out at the top to form an open-mouthed cup shape. The wide base allows plenty of room for the tequila, bitters, and other mixers that go into this classic cocktail. It also helps keep the drink cool in your hand as you sip it.

Flavors

The Sazerac is a classic cocktail that dates back to the late 1800s. It is an excellent choice for those looking for a refreshing, spirit-forward drink with just enough sweetness and complexity to keep things interesting.

The Tequila Sazerac has an herbal flavor profile thanks to the use of absinthe as one of its main ingredients. The tequila also adds some fruity notes such as citrus, while the simple syrup provides sweetness and balance. A dash of Peychaud’s Bitters adds additional aromatics and spices, making this concoction truly unique in flavor. All these flavors combine together perfectly creating a smooth taste with just enough bite at the end from the tequila base.
