Glassware

Typical or usual glassware used for the Poinsettia Cocktail is a martini glass, highball glass, or coupe. Martini glasses are perfect for serving up traditional poinsettias and gives the drink an elegant presentation. Highball glasses are best suited to tall drinks that require extra ingredients like fruits and herbs. Coupe glasses can also be used to serve the poinsettia cocktail, but should only be used for shorter versions of this classic holiday favorite due to its shallow shape.

Flavors Cranberry and Vodka, Sweet, Sour and Tart

Cranberry and vodka is a delicious combination of sweet, sour and tart. This cocktail has just the right balance of flavor to make it enjoyable for almost anyone. The tangy sweetness of the cranberry juice pairs perfectly with the acidity of freshly squeezed lime juice. Meanwhile, adding Cointreau or Triple Sec brings a subtle layer of sweetness and complexity that rounds out this drink nicely.

The vodka in this martini adds an additional level of crispness without overpowering other flavors. It also gives the drink a smooth finish that makes it refreshing enough to sip after dinner as well as during happy hour. As you take your last sip, you’ll taste hints of cranberries lingering on your tongue — perfect for those who enjoy fruity cocktails!

3 Tips for Making Your Poinsettia

  1. When shopping for cranberry juice, look for one that is 100% juice with no added sugar or preservatives.
  2. Be sure to chill the glass while mixing the Poinsettia cocktail to ensure a cold, refreshing drink.
  3. Use a quality orange liqueur to give your Poinsettia an extra zesty flavor! Experiment with different brands, you’ll be surprised at the difference between an inexpensive triple sec and something like Grand Marnier.
