Choosing The Right Ingredients

The main ingredients for our classic Gin Fizz are: gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and soda water. When selecting your gin for this cocktail it is important that you choose one with an intense flavour such as Hendricks or Tanqueray No Ten.

For sweetness use simple syrup made from boiling equal parts of sugar and water until they dissolve into each other – just remember not to boil them too long otherwise the texture will become thick like honey.

Making The Perfect Shake

Now that you have selected all the necessary ingredients it’s time to start making the drink! Begin by adding ice cubes into a shaker followed by two ounces of gin (or whatever amount works best for you). Then add in 1 ½ ounces of freshly squeezed lemon juice along with ¾ ounce of simple syrup before topping off with two dashes of angostura bitters if desired. Now shake!

Straining & Pouring Into A Glass

Once everything has been added into the shaker close tightly and begin shaking vigorously ensuring that all ingredients are mixed well together. Now take a Collins glass filled halfway with ice cubes then strain out mixture from shaker directly onto glass using a Hawthorne strainer or Julep strainer – whichever one works best for you.

Topping Up With Soda Water

Once strained pour in 4-6 ounces of chilled soda water depending on how strong or light taste preference is desired then garnish with fresh mint leaves or lime wedges if preferred . This step helps give extra flavor plus carbonation thus creating more bubbles when sipped..

Finishing Touches

Finally, add some orange peel oil over top surface area before drinking which gives additional aroma plus compliments citrus taste already present within drink itself . And there you have it—the perfect Gin Fizz cocktail ready in no time !

Glassware

The typical glassware used for a Gin Fizz is a tall highball glass. This type of glass allows plenty of room for the cocktail ingredients to be mixed together, and also provides space for adding ice cubes or crushed ice. For added flair, some bartenders may also use an old-fashioned rocks glass with a metal shaker tin on top to serve this classic drink.

Flavors

The Gin Fizz is a classic cocktail that has been around since the late 1800s. It’s a simple concoction of gin, lemon juice, sugar and soda water but its flavor profile is anything but basic.

The bright, tart taste of the lemon juice pairs perfectly with juniper-forward notes of gin to create a light and refreshing beverage. The addition of simple syrup helps to balance out any harshness from the alcohol while adding an extra sweetness to the mix.

Carbonated soda water provides just enough effervescence to give it some sparkle without being too overwhelming or fizzy on the tongue. All these flavors come together in beautiful harmony to create a timeless cocktail experience that can easily be enjoyed alone or as part of any social gathering.
